Entice hungry Snapper into smashing your lure
Thinking of putting together the perfect softbaiting set up? The
Shimano Ultegra 4000FB XG Backbone Softbait Combo
is a great option. This combo comes with the versatile Ultegra reel
– smooth and powerful. It’s paired up with the Backbone rod which
features top quality components that will stand the heat of
battle.
The Reel
The Shimano Ultegra 4000FB XG Spinning Reel is
simply a delight to use, with better balance in the hand. It’s
designed using X-Ship technology, which not only makes the fishing
experience much more enjoyable with ultra-smooth retrieves but also
gives you more grunt when cranking in those larger saltwater
species. Whether you’re casting light Rapala lures to Trout,
softbaiting the wash or micro-jigging for Snapper, the
Shimano Ultegra 4000FB XG Spinning Reel eats it
up!
S-ARB bearings
These bearings have been through the same process as Shimano’s A-RB
bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that
reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearing’s
rotation.
Cold forged aluminium spool
The spool provides increased strength and durability over diecast
aluminium or graphite spools
Power Roller II
This is an oversized line roller that reduces twist from casting
and retrieving and is enhanced with a tapered area on the support
to help line get onto the roller quicker.
X-ship
Together with the Hagane cold-forged drive gear, Shimano combined
X-Ship technology which results in a smooth, powerful and durable
reel. By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings, the
pinion gear maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This
means that the gears will stay in position under the heaviest
loads. The added benefit is that friction between the spool shaft
and gear are eliminated. This will enhance the casting performance
of the reel with lighter lures, and allow for longer casts.
AR-C spool management system
Through tens of thousands of casting tests and computer
simulations, it has been determined that this new AR-C spool lip
design provides longer casting distances than a standard spool lip
design while preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming. It
also allows the line to flow off the spool in smaller loops during
the cast, which means less slap on the stripper guide. This means
longer casts with less friction.
Hagane gear
Hagane gear is at the very heart of the reel and creates strength
and durability. The entire cold-forging process is calculated in
minute detail by special 3D design and the result is precision
durability.
The Rod
The favourite Backbone series of rods just got an overhaul. The new
Shimano Backbone Softbait Spin Rod is now stronger
than ever, with a higher quality blank, good quality componentry
and a new slick design that is bound to please.
Graphite Blank
Utilising high quality graphite sheets rolled on custom designed
mandrels, a sensitive yet extremely lightweight performance fishing
blank is created.
Graphite Composite
Rod blanks combining both graphite and fibreglass materials in a
particular manner can create a blank with characteristics that are
best of both worlds, making a rod that has fibreglass robustness
with the power of graphite.
