The Reel

In Shimano’s pursuit of the ultimate in durability and performance,
the Shimano Twin Power XD C3000HG Spinning Reel
has been born and set a new benchmark for saltwater spinning reels.
Finished with a metallic blue base with silver and gold highlights,
the Twin Power XD stays true its premium pedigree.

Hagane gear and body
The battle-tested cold forged Hagane gear has received a
significant upgrade through advancements in Shimano’s
high-precision technology, resulting in a strength rating that is
comparable to one size larger in the previous model. Additionally,
X-Ship provides vital pinion and drive gear support, ensuring
optimum arrangement for ultra-light smooth reeling. To further
protect the engagement of the XD’s internals, the Hagane Body acts
as a rigid aluminium armour that firmly suppresses any distortion
and twisting when under load.

X-Protect
To oppose unwanted saltwater intrusion, X Protect provides the Twin
Power XD with Shimano’s highest degree of protection. Developed
especially for the XD series, X Protect leverages a waterproof
labyrinth structure on top of the anti-reverse bearing which blocks
any internal saltwater entry into the body. This is also combined
with a new water repellent treatment that is applied to the body,
line rollers and roller clutch, making the reel ideal for saltwater
applications.

Magnum light rotor
The new Magnum Light Rotor enables effortless winding through a 14
% reduction in rotational resistance and a 30% improvement in
rigidity. G Free body shifts the reel’s center of gravity closer to
the reel seat, perfecting the reel’s balance and feel when in your
hand.

The Rod

Direct from Shimano JDM range, the new Shimano Lunamis S76M Spinning Rod is specifically developed to target Hapuku. This high-end rod is a concentrate of Shimano’s latest technologies: an ultimate level of lightweight and sensitivity is reached thanks to Spiral X Core blank, Carbon Monocoque handle, Ci4+ Perfection reel seat and a combination of Shimano X Guide and Fuji Titanium SiC guides.

Spiral X Core
Spiral X core uses carbon infinity tape wrapped in opposing directions up the inside and outside of the blank. The carbon infinity tape utilises Toray Nano Alloy technology to increase torsional and structural rigidity by 10-15 without adding extra weight to the blank.

Hi-Power X
In Hi-Power X construction, the blank’s outermost layer is diagonally wrapped with carbon tape, which forms an array of “X” shapes. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish species. The flexibility allows Shimano to adjust these wraps during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength and added twist resistance. In short, Hi-Power X construction delivers sharp and crisp rod control by the angler.

Nano Pitch
Shimano uses a manufacturing method that wraps the moulding tape used in the process of baking blanks at an extremely fine pitch. Since the blanks are tightened with more uniform pressure, the roundness is increased, which greatly contributes to higher strength.

Carbon Monocoque
The Carbon Monocoque is an integrated hollow rear grip that is made from carbon. This advanced design removes the need for other materials to be wrapped on to the blank, is extremely lightweight, and offers excellent transfer of vibration from the blank to the hand. When compared with existing grips, the Carbon Monocoque is up to 10g lighter and increases sensitivity by up to 130%, enabling you to feel every vibration of a lure and the exact moment a fish attacks. Extensive testing has delivered excellent results producing outstanding performance, and the Carbon Monogrip design gives Shimano more options to develop much more sensitive rods for many other fishing disciplines.
