The Reel
The new Shimano Tiagra TI30WLRSA Reel features a
slightly darker, heavier gold anodising, a drilled drag quadrant
with a drag curve, and a newly designed septon power handle. The
heavier anodising makes these reels even more resistant to the
ravages of salt water, while the click stop drag quadrant permits
more precise drag adjustments. And what’s the counterbalanced
handle falls easily to hand when striking a fish and makes winding
easier during the course of a long fight. It’s rubberised
‘tackiness’ combats sweaty palms, which can be a problem during the
course of a long fight.

Another major rule of game fishing is that the leverage created by
an angler in a chair or stand-up harness with a big Marlin, Tuna or
Shark on the end of the line places an enormous amount of pressure
on the tackle. That’s why Tiagra’s one piece frame is machine-cut
from an aluminium tube to a thickness of 7mm (the thickest on the
market). It’s also why Tiagra has A-RB bearings, heavy-duty
stainless steel gears, and a two speed shifting mechanism where the
pinion and drive gears are continuously meshed.

Metal Series
Metal frames not only keep moving parts in precise alignment, they
also feature the use of the latest anodizing, plating and painting
techniques for a beautiful and durable finish.

Cold Forged Aluminium
The Tiagra’s spool provides increased strength and durability over
diecast aluminium or graphite spools.

Anti-rust Bearings
Anti-rust Bearings are made of stainless steel that has been
through the A-RB process. At least 10 times more
corrosion-resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings.
Easy maintenance no-shield design and lighter viscosity lubrication
reduces friction and allow the bearing spin faster and longer.

2-speed Gearing
This mechanism is designed so that gear changes are quick and easy,
even when fighting a fish. The low gear ratio used for high-power
retrieves is selected by pushing the button on the base of the
handle. Return to the high-speed ratio by sliding the release
button along the handle shank. By using two sets of gears, the
drive and pinion gears are always engaged. There is no gear meshing
during the shift.

The Rod
The Shimano Tiagra Stand Up Game Rod is light,
strong and incredibly responsive, perfect for Marlin, Tuna or
Sharks. It’s re-engineered from the ground up to incorporate a new
mix of e-glass and carbon that creates a blank with extreme
strength whilst still maintaining a comfortable feel in the hand an
overall weight reduction from previous models. Finished off with
Fuji and Aftco components you are guaranteed a rod that is up to
the task of landing seriously big fish. With a metallic gold,
